In the most common and functionally best dentition, the upper and lower incisors are in normal anteroposterior (from front to back) position, enabling them to bite over one another like scissor blades for an optimum bite). The upper anterior teeth overlap the lower ones by about 2-3mm. The molars must be optimally positioned (like a cogwheel) to enable the correct grinding (chewing) motion. |
